

2012 Rookie / Cage kart / Non Wing class Rules
Ages 5-8 (No weight rule for this class)
All IKF flat kart chassis rules apply to this class including wheel base
- Roll cage must be mounted to chassis in minimum of four places, two spots behind the driver and two spots ahead of the drivers seat, cage can not be mounted to the nerf bars, must be on main frame rails or nerf bar mounts only.
- Must be of min .065 wall DOM or chrome moly tubing only
- Must have three holes drilled in it of .125 diameter for wall thickness inspection
- May be spring loaded at mounts ( 4)
- May Not be welded to chassis ( No Champ karts )
- Door bars may be used but not required
- Roll cage must meet THS requirements for safety , THS reserves the right to inspect all welds and materials used in construction, should they not meet requirements the kart will not be allowed to participate
Front and rear bumpers required
- Rear bumper must be of the speedway type / loop bumper, covering the rear tires from the center of the tire on both sides right and left
- Front bumper must be legal IKF /WKA type for karting
- No rear pods or wing type rear bumpers allowed for safety reason only in this class
- Must have complete fiberglass or plastic body installed to cover the front tires, same body as used in all flat kart classes and must meet the same rules
Tires: Burris SS33-A only on all four corners, tires may not be grooved or sipped
- No tire prepping allowed in this class at the track
- Maybe cleaned with drinkable water only at the track
Engine type: Briggs LO206 JR sealed engine only / Gas only 92 octane or less
- Must use 17T clutch supplied with spec engine from Briggs
- 70 tooth rear sprocket
- Spec header and muffler
- Recoil starter must remain on engine
- 4100 RPM rev limiter
- Jr Carb slide length to control speed
- Seat maybe fiberglass or aluminum must be mounted in safe manner to chassis
- ALL seats must be mounted so the rear of the seat is vertical ( minimum of 16”) from back of seat to top of rear axle
- Seat belts are Mandatory in this class and must meet safety regulations ( 2” min width) if used and must meet date code requirements for age and safety
- All helmets must be Snell 2005 or newer!
- Quick release steering wheel is suggested but not required
- Fuel tank maybe aluminum or plastic and must be mounted to floor pan in safe manner, may not be mounted to cage
- This is to be a learning class!
- This class will allow the young driver to either move up to the flat kart classes with minor changes to the kart or to the Jr wing class with similar small changes
